Cynicism is the greatest barrier to love. It is rooted in doubt and despair. Fear intensifies our doubt. It paralyzes. Faith and hope allow us to let go. Fear stands in the way of love.
I think one of the most wonderful books that Martin Luther King wrote was Strength to Love. I always liked it because of the word ‘strength,’ which counters the Western notion of love as easy.
