I have no desire at all to become the winningest coach at Notre Dame. The record belongs to Knute Rockne or some other coach in the future.
Don’t ever promise more than you can deliver, but always deliver more than you promise.
Without self-discipline, success is impossible, period.
You were not born a winner, and you were not born a loser. You are what you make yourself be.
In golf, the player, coach and official are rolled into one, and they overlap completely. Golf really is the best microcosm of life – or at least the way life should be.
I give opinions, not advice.

Remember, if you have a problem, it’s your problem. Solve it. Don’t blame other people. Don’t burden people with your complaints. Ninety percent of the people you meet don’t care about your troubles. The other 10 percent are glad you have them.
Happiness is nothing more than having a poor memory.
So think before you complain, especially about things that require some sacrifice. Complaining is the sign of a loser.
Everybody wants to talk about their rights and privileges. Twenty-five years ago, people talked about their obligations and responsibilities. – as spoken by Lou Holtz, former Notre Dame Coach.
He called on me to save him as I had promised. And I did the same thing that you might have done if you were in my situation. I tried to pretend that I couldn’t hear him calling to me.
The problem is, that it’s easy to adopt the attitude of losers.
