A servant wants to be rewarded for what he does. A lover wants only to be in love’s presence, that ocean whose depth will never be known.

God put thorns around love’s door to stop anyone who’s not a lover from entering.

The lover’s ailment is separate from all other ailments: love is the astrolabe of the mysteries of God.
