What is important, what I consider success, is that we make a contribution to our world.
Success is determined not by whether or not you face obstacles, but by your reaction to them. And if you look at these obstacles as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the next.
It does not matter where we come from or what we look like. If we recognize our abilities, are willing to learn and to use what we know in helping others, we will always have a place in the world.
If we recognize our talents and use them appropriately, and choose a field that uses those talents, we will rise to the top of our field.
The doors of the world are opened to people who can read.
I am convinced that knowledge is power - to overcome the past, to change our own situations, to fight new obstacles, to make better decisions.
Always give your best and try to figure out how to do an even better job.
We are not like dogs who are kind of “What am I going to eat today? Oh, there is a rabbit; I am going to go chase it.”
It’s a very wise thing for people to rationally sit down and look at what the risks are not only on a daily basis, on a weekly basis, on a monthly basis, on a yearly basis, on a lifetime basis, and then plan one’s life accordingly.
The government is supposed to respond to the will of the people. Not dictate to the people what they are doing.
A good surgeon doesn’t just concentrate on technical ability, but also on the appropriateness of what you’re doing.
Of course, no religious test for the presidency – every faith adds to our national character.
The person who has the most to do what happens to you in life is you. Not somebody else and not the environment.
I think people actually notice sometimes the content of what one is saying rather than the decibel level at which he says it. And a lot of times when people don’t have a lot to say, they increase the volume.
The left, of course, will say Carson doesn’t believe in the Geneva Convention, Carson doesn’t believe in fighting stupid wars. And – and what we have to remember is we want to utilize the tremendous intellect that we have in the military to win wars.
Uninformed people can be easily manipulated.
Our strength as a nation comes in our unity. We are the United States of America, not the divided states. And those who want to divide us are trying to divide us, and we shouldn’t let them do it.
I don’t worry about things that aren’t important.
These are just things that we don’t know, and that’s where trust and faith come in.
The thing that is probably most important is having a brain, and to be able to figure things out and learn things very rapidly.
Even if somebody disagrees with you, their life is still valuable.
