I learn every day what it means to love myself, and I’m constantly figuring out what makes me feel empowered.

I live around dudes all the time so I’ve heard millions of stories about how they go through a breakup and then the girl turns absolutely crazy. I always thought growing up like: “No, I won’t be like that – when I go through a breakup I’ll be cool.”
The most incredible thing about playing the songs live for people – looking out to the crowd and seeing the different reactions and the different heart-strings and the things that people are relating to that mean something to them, that’s crazy.
The most important part about playing shows and touring, is connecting with fans. At the end of the day it’s not really a band and fans, we’re all just human beings.
I don’t want to sound like I’m trying to be too deep about it, but when we play shows, music takes everybody on their own journey – because one song might mean something to me, that means something completely different to someone else.
The only truth I know is my own.
When the sunlight strikes raindrops in the air, they act like a prism and form a rainbow. The rainbow is a division of white light into many beautiful colors. These take the shape of a long round arch, with it’s path high above, and it’s two ends apparently beyond the horizon. There is, according to legend, a boiling pot of a gold at one end. People look, but no one ever finds it. When a man looks for something beyond his reach, his friends say he is looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
The only opinion I have is that I could never look someone in the eye and tell them that they didn’t love someone that they know they love. It’s not my job to judge and it’s not a job I’d want. I love people a lot. All kinds. If we were meant to be the same then we wouldn’t be human.
It’s okay to not be perfect and not to have everything figured out. It’s okay to feel things that are shameful, hate, and feel guilty. I feel like the message we’ve tried to stand by, is that it’s basically okay to have scars and to show them. To show that you’ve been through all sorts of things and have come out a different and better person because of it.
Sometimes life just hits you, right in the face. And it’s alright. Because I, for one, think it’s kinda cool to have a black eye every now and then. And I think it’s definitely okay to have scars, and it’s definitely okay to hurt, and be in pain and show it. And that’s why we have friends in this life. And it’s why we have music.
It’s so simple, it really couldn’t get any more simple, but that’s the point.
