When a man has no strength, if he leans on God, he becomes powerful.
Many a professing Christian is a stumbling-block because his worship is divided. On Sunday he worships God; on weekdays God has little or no place in his thoughts.
It is a good deal better to have life in Christ and God than any where else. I would rather have my life hid with Christ in God than be in Eden as Adam was. Adam might have remained in Paradise for 16,000 years, and then fallen, but if ours is hid in Christ, how safe!
Dr. Bonar once said that he could tell when a Christian was growing. In proportion to his growth in grace he would elevate his Master, talk less of what he himself was doing, and become smaller and smaller in his own esteem, until, like the morning star, he faded away before the rising sun.
How far away is Heaven? It is not so far as some imagine. It wasn’t very far from Daniel. It was not so far off that Elijah’s prayer and those of others could not be heard there. Men full of the Spirit can look right into heaven.
The Lord gives his people perpetual joy when they walk in obedience to him.
I never saw a fruit-bearing Christian who was not a student of the Bible.
I like my way of doing things better than your way of not doing them.
There is the joy of one’s own salvation. I thought, when I first tasted that, it was the most delicious joy I had ever known, and that I could never get beyond it. But I found, afterward, there was something more joyful that, namely, the joy of the salvation of others.

I am walking toward a bright light and the nearer I get the brighter it is.
I believe Satan exists for two reasons: first, the Bible says so, and second, I’ve done business with him.
If a man gets drunk and goes out and breaks his leg so that it must be amputated, God will forgive him if he asks it, but he will have to hop around on one leg all his life.
Let us expect that God is going to use us. Let us have courage and go forward, looking to God to do great things.
I believe many a man is praying to God to fill him, when he is full already with something else. Before we pray that God would fill us, I believe we ought to pray Him to empty us.
It is better to be a little too strict than too liberal.
What we want is to be real. Let us not appear to be more than we are. Don’t let us put on any cant, any assumed humility, but let us be real; that is the delight of God. God wants us to be real men and women, and if we profess to be what we are not, God knows all about us. God hates sham.
We may sing our hymns and psalms, and offer prayers, but they will be an abomination to God, unless we are willing to be thoroughly straightforward in our daily life.
God has cast our confessed sins into the depths of the sea, and He’s even put a ‘No Fishing’ sign over the spot.
