All my romantic stories are a scrambled version of that first one.
I don’t really believe in stories, only in the people who tell them.
My show is sort of a short-film anthology, and I’m able to tell little stories that don’t necessarily carry a whole episode in terms of narrative. I like the audience not being sure what they’re getting. I think it’s more fun to watch something when you’re discovering it as you go along.
I love stories about people that, whatever situation they’re in, you can relate to them in a way.
I have some sort of affinity for compulsive behavior. The most interesting stories come up from the people on the outside.
The truth is, if you’re around long enough, you have a story about everyone. But it’s best to keep your mouth shut sometimes.
That’s a frustration sometimes, that certain directors that I’d like to work with, they just aren’t doing stories that I’m sort of castable in. Not always, but sometimes I have that frustration.
You can be intuitive when you’ve got a more expansive role. You can get into the poetry of telling the story rather than just pushing buttons.
It’s horrid to be called a Shakespearean actor because that’s incredibly limiting, and we love acting. We like telling stories; anything that excites us we want to be a part of. Science fiction is fun, too!
The story of the Internet is this incredibly strong, exciting change.
Consciousness begins when brains acquire the power, the simple power I must add, of telling a story.
Showing myself nude from behind doesn’t pose any problems, but from the front that’s another story. I don’t want to lose all my fans!
If you are writing a story and trying to draw an audience to come and hear you tell it, it’s got to in some way relate to them. Who wants to come and hear about your specific problems? It’s not therapy – it’s supposed to be a communal piece of entertainment.
Some people just see the glory and they don’t want to know about the story.
I think the voice over actually enhances the various moments instead of compensating for something that’s lacking. Voice over can be tricky. It can be dangerous because its over used or inappropriately used. I think in this case it informs the story.
Any story is better with a little love in it, right?
Stories heard but not recalled. Letters too. Words filling my head. Fragmenting like artillery shells. Shrapnel, like syllables, flying everywhere. Terrible syllables. Sharp cracked. Traveling at murderous speed. Tearing through it all in a very, very bad inreparable way.
There are so many projects that you go into hoping the story works, and here comes a new third act and that kind of thing.
Everything’s a story, kid. Stories are what help us make sense of the world.
It’s hard to tell what people will do with the word and how they’ll be circulating it but I think the storytellers and the stories themselves will always be there.
