8When David heard of it, he sent Joab and all the army of the mighty.
17And David said longingly, “Oh that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem that is by the gate!” 18Then the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and took it and brought it to David. But David would not drink it.
Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm.
For no such Passover had been kept since the days of the judges who judged Israel, or during all the days of the kings of Israel or of the kings of Judah.
11Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, devoting them to destruction.
33So they feared the LORD but also served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.

All that was despised and worthless they devoted to destruction.
12I said, ‘Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the favor of the LORD.’ So I forced myself, and offered the burnt offering.
14The cities that the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron to Gath, and Israel delivered their territory from the hand of the Philistines. There was peace also between Israel and the Amorites.
17Thus the sin of the young men was very great.

40that the daughters of Israel went year by year to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in the year.
And there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD or the work that he had done for Israel.

11So he caused the ark of the LORD to circle the city, going about it once. And they came into the camp and spent the night in the camp.
3You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once.
