It wasn’t always easy at times, having grown up on television and being in the entertainment industry.
I did a lot of my school on set. Some years I went to a private school for a couple of hours, and then I’d always finish up with a tutor. I couldn’t do full days, but I tried to maintain my friendships and some normalcy while doing a show.
Because my faith is important to me and then they wrote it in that my character I would be playing would also be a Christian, many people would often assume now that I’m playing myself on television. And I’m not.
My children have grown up around animals. They’re not scared of them.
It seems too easy to lie in the moment but you always have to tell more lies on top of it to cover your tracks.
Personally I’m an advocate for healthy marriages and families and I do a lot of speaking around the country sharing my faith and talking to women’s groups, even specifically about marriage.
When we invest in the things that matter most to us, that are within God’s unique design for each of us, I believe we will achieve a sense of balance in our lives.
Priorities and purpose help keep us on track.
I don’t think balance is ever achieved in the full sense of the word. Life is more like a juggling act, spinning plates in the air, allowing some to drop, and picking them back up or adding new ones when the timing is right.
Emotionally, I stay healthy by being grounded in the word of God, being open and honest, never being afraid to speak my mind in love, and having good communication with those around me.
My faith dictates a whole lot of what I’ll do.
I always loved watching and reading family-friendly mysteries growing up, like the shows Murder, She Wrote and Nancy Drew, and am thrilled to be bringing these New York Times best-selling books right into your living room on the small screen.
Kind and classy women celebrate the other women in every room rather than sizing them up.
A day without prayer is a day wasted of an opportunity to see God’s hand in my life.
Your integrity is worth so much more than proving a point or having the last word.
But the things that make a woman feel good inside and out – and make those around her feel good and happy to be with her – are not for sale. Things like kindness, self-discipline, purpose, humility, grace, confidence, hospitality, and peace cannot be marketed in a slick magazine ad or in a movie.
He has given us life, and we can either live that life with joy, believing that we can make a difference, or we can wallow in sorrow believing we can’t.
Kindness is incredibly powerful because it is so unlike what most of us see every day. It does not come naturally to us. We have to work at it and build it, like a muscle. But when we do, it stands out.
Say goodbye to bad hair days and bad heart days alike by remembering that you are God’s masterpiece, sharing a smile, and spreading contagious joy. That’s the real secret of every class act.
The story of Samson, whose secret to strength was his uncut hair, may well typify the power we have when God is on our head; but it also illustrates the power that persistence holds to weaken our strength. Even the strongest resolve becomes weak when faced with negative thoughts time and again.
