The foolish idea that my music can actually make a difference in someone’s life – that right there is proof that it’s working. It makes me feel great, it really does.
So often the woman forgets her own greatness and she goes a little bat sh – crazy sometimes. So its up to the other half to love that person back into the person we know them to be.

Traveling has a major impact on what I do, cause all over the world I’m meeting all kinds of people. And relationships is the second major impact that I have. I just enjoy the variety that the world has to offer.

Timeless comes to mind. When you listen to it, you can’t tell what year the thing was made. And you don’t even care.
Paul McCartney and John Lennon would often write a song a day, so I have the same workmanlike philosophy.
If you got the poison, I’ve got the remedy.
Getting on stage is a bonus, that’s my therapy, that’s when I can tell stories and it all makes sense.
I don’t follow any of what the pop world is doing. Sometimes I feel like that’s a weakness, actually, that I’m too in my own bubble. But I’m really just interested in the inner journey. And pop is all about the exterior world, the material.
When I first started, my message was about joy, but I didn’t really have the vocabulary and life experience to fully deliver it.
When all of us are acknowledged as the human equals that we really are, there will be no space left for bullying. It will no longer be wrong to choose one thing over another.
Hold your own. Know your name. And go your own way. And everything will be fine.

I basically had the idea when I was 18 that I wanted to write my own songs. I knew it was going to be a long, tough road, and I was like, if I just begin now, by the time I’m 40, I’ll be good at it.
The rules of life are made up. The rules only exist in your mind.
I was looking for inspiration. I found it in California. The weather was always great, and the majority of San Diego seemed to be youth-and if you weren’t 21 and couldn’t get into the clubs, you’d go to a coffeehouse and hang out.
Being out in nature inspires me as a writer.
