We came to bring our morality to politics, not to bring politics to our morality.

By appealing to conscience and standing on the moral nature of human existence, nonviolence nurtures the atmosphere in which reconciliation and justice become actual possibilities.
Nothing can stop the power of a committed and determined people to make a difference in our society. Why? Because human beings are the most dynamic link to the divine on this planet.
Courage can feel uncomfortable. Courage is not about being popular, it’s about purpose.
We cannot thrive as a democracy when justice is reserved for only those with means.
But have faith that your good work will be a drop in the river that will eventually break the damn, ushering in a more peaceful world.
What interests are you trying to protect?
They are all marching to redeem the soul of the nation, to create a society at peace with ourselves.
When you see something that is not the way it should be, don’t be afraid. Speak up, speak out, be courageous. It’s a total commitment. No compromise. Just go for it.
Whatever good work you do, whatever powerful, profound work-do it because it’s right or because it’s necessary. Do it to make change for the better. Do it because you know you must. Don’t do it for credit.

What is the purpose of a nation if not to empower human beings to live better together than they could individually?
These men grew. They changed because of what they experienced, and that is all you can ask of another person.
Tension motivates the imperative to change.
