Sages do not accumulate for themselves. The more they give to others, the more they possess of their own. The way of Heaven is to benefit others and not to injure.
It is wealth to be content.
If you want to accord with the Tao, just do your job, then let go.
Be empty. Be still. Just watch everything come and go. This is the way of Nature.
What man has more than enough and gives it to the world? Only the man of Tao.
Highest good is like water. Because water excels in benefiting the myriad creatures without contending with them and settles where none would like to be, it comes closest to the way.
Mask your brightness. Be at one with the dust of the earth. This is primal union.
Love is the greatest link that we have with those who have temporarily left us.
Bend and you will be straight.
Don’t think you can attain total awareness and whole enlightenment without proper discipline and practice. This is egomania. Appropriate rituals channel your emotions and life energy toward the light. Without the discipline to practice them, you will tumble constantly backward into darkness.
There is no greater sin than desire, No greater curse than discontent, No greater misfortune than wanting something for oneself. Therefore he who knows that enough is enough will always have enough.
Abandon learning and there will be no sorrow.
With virtue and quietness one may conquer the world.
The more prohibitions you have, the less virtuous people will be. Try to make people moral, and you lay the groundwork for vice.
Rushing into action, you fail. Trying to grasp things, you lose them. Forcing a project to completion, you ruin what was almost ripe.
Good words shall gain you honor in the marketplace, but good deeds shall gain you friends among men.
Do not fear the aging of the body for it is the body’s way of seeking the root.
Kindness in words creates confidence.
Wise travelers always stop short before they come to danger.
Being is born of not being.
