Finding your goal, focusing in on it, and learning to work to get closer to it every day is possible for anyone. Finding your goal takes some soul-searching and some clarity, but the other two? Having focus and being productive enough to get closer to where you want to go? Those are just habits. If you don’t already have them, it’s only because you haven’t developed them yet. Not because they’ll never be yours.
It’s a simultaneous thing. You can’t live your life for their opinions, and you also can’t keep blaming them. You need to embrace your path. You need to accept that whatever happened did happen and choose to be mindful of the steps that you’ve got to take now to heal and get past those things. You cannot keep living in the excuses of something that happened fifteen or twenty years ago. Because, seriously, how is that working for you?
You’ve got to believe in yourself and believe that you’re capable of making changes to become whatever kind of person you want to be. As you read through this book, as you’re trying to figure out the person you want to be, remember the journey starts with the goal. It starts with finding the direction you want to go in and then figuring out how to build the habits that will get you there.
Confidence is the belief that you can count on yourself.
They reminded me what grace looks like and that we all have hard times. They reminded me that when things are the toughest, that’s when you should most be seeking out your partner. They reminded me who it is I want to be.
When it comes to your dreams, no is not an answer. The word no is not a reason to stop. Instead, think of it as a detour or a yield sign. No means merge with caution. No reminds you to slow down – to re-evaluate where you are and to judge how the new position you’re in can better prepare you for your destination.
Your potential for improvement is exponential.
Shut. The. Front. Door!
Time passed and seasons changed, and my new city eventually taught me one of the most vital lessons I’ve ever learned. Moving or traveling or getting away? It’s just geography. Moving doesn’t change who you are. It only changes the view outside your window. You must choose to be happy, grateful, and fulfilled. If you make that choice every single day, regardless of where you are or what’s happening, you will be happy.
Around this same time, I decided to cut my own bangs with my dad’s mustache scissors.
You have to know what to focus on, or you will never make progress.
I am to believe I am special, and how many other girls Brody has taken on similar lunches.
The truth is, it doesn’t matter what they think of you; it matters what you think of you. Hard as it is to reconcile, someone else’s opinion only holds power if you allow it to. If you actively take steps and intentionally begin to live without obsessing over what other people think, it will be the most freeing decision of your life.
So be careful about dressing your judgments up as accountability to make your conscience feel better.
Am fost invatata sa ma fac mica, dar ma nascusem cu o inima in care sa incapa doar visuri mari.
If you spend your day looking for blessings – here’s the magic – you’ll find them.
Esti facuta sa-ti aduci contributia. Esti facuta sa aduci o schimbare pentru totdeauna, si in comunitatea ta, si in lumea intreaga. Esti facuta sa fii mai mult decat esti astazi.
Not having the knowledge just makes you teachable, not stupid. Not having the experience just makes you eager, not ignorant.
Sometimes you aim for the sun and fall short. But if you keep fighting for your dream, it becomes something so much better than you even knew to hope for. That.
Not because I’m especially gifted, but because I’m especially dedicated to improving along the way.
