I ride my bike for transportation a great deal – occasionally I ride it for fun. But I also have a generator bike that’s hooked up to my solar battery pack, so if I ride 15 minutes hard on my bike, that’s enough energy to toast toast, or power my computer.
I’ve been playing a lot of really strong, able woman, but I think it would be really fun to play a crazy drug addict, or something.
The main prank that we play with props is for people’s birthdays. The special effects people will put a little explosive in the cake so it blows up in their face – that’s always fun to play on a guest star, or one of the trainees or someone who’s new.
Any time you can completely immerse yourself in something it’s fun.
I don’t want to be pigeonholed into doing just romantic comedies. But they’re fun, and especially for women, it’s nice to go to see them and enjoy that breath of fresh air.
I’ve got a lot of nervous energy and I trip a lot. I don’t have a good equilibrium. In the places where the physical comedy was necessary, it came very naturally and it was fun.

The big fun in ‘Battleship’ is that there are no current battleships in the Navy today. The battleships are about 1,000 feet long and they have huge guns. They were what you saw in WWII. The last battleship that was used was the Missouri, which is what the Japanese surrendered to.
Maybe I’d be in a different place in my career if I’d had that 10-year plan, a lot of people went at it with this voracity that I never had. My only voracity was to have fun and to be in the mix.
I never even think about the physicality of roles, until honestly I get the gig and I think, ‘OK, now what do I have to do in this one?’ Like, I approach it thinking more about the character – do I respond to it? Is it something I think I can play? Does it seem like it’ll be fun?
