If she could do nothing else in this moment, she would trust in truth.
Sometimes pain is kind of like love. It’s just turned inside out. That’s what makes it hurt so fiercely. It doesn’t mean that it’s bad, and as much as we want to wish it away, it may still come. And when it does, it only means that what’s living on the other end of it was loved. Greatly.
Would it... would it be all right... if I loved you forever?
How sweet her name was to him. Always said as a cherishing. In this moment it was the same cherishing that drove his determination to protect her. He prayed she knew that.
And here he stood, wondering why God had seen fit to bless a man such as him.
His eyes are still closed, voice soft and near. Just for me. ‘I heard the cavalry when you sat beside me that first day.
That there are some things you can’t go back from. You just lay the broken pieces down and then there’s grace and it’s glue, and in a strange way, you’re more whole than before, because this time... This time it’s not by your own doing.
I guess the secret to life just might boil down to counting our blessings one moment at a time. And that maybe as we do, we realize that even though the sun isn’t right overhead, it’s been light all along.
This is the story that God has woven for us, and I am learning to trust that He knows the way.
