Deprived is the one who has never witnessed his own desperate need for God. Reliant on his own means, he forgets that the means, his own soul, and everything else in existence are His creation.

Maybe the brokenness comes to teach you how to kneel. Stop trying to ‘be strong’. We cry, to heal. We feel, to stay human.
Through my attachments, I was dependent on my relationships to fulfill my needs. I allowed those relationships to define my happiness or my sadness, my fulfillment or my emptiness, my security, and even my self-worth. And so, like the vase placed where it will inevitably fall, through those dependencies I set myself up for disappointment. I set myself up to be broken.
As a result, we create our own camps, attend only our own gatherings and conferences; soon enough, we’re talking only to those who agree with us. Dialogue within the ummah disappears, our differences become only more polarized and our views become more extreme.
The human currency of praise is Monopoly money. It feels great for a moment to collect, but when the game is over, it’s worthless.
He separated you from what you love, to teach you about the nature of this life. Then He returned to you what you love, to teach you about the nature of the next.
Never think you can choose better for yourself than He can.
Allah loves His creation. That’s why He rewards so greatly for serving them.
I think we struggle so much with letting go of what we love, because we haven’t found something we love more to replace it.
Detachment is not that you should own nothing, but that nothing should own you.
Growth never comes without pain and success is only a product of struggle.
That broken heart and that pain are lessons and signs for us. They are warnings that something is wrong. They are warnings that we need to make a change. Just like the pain of being burned is what warns us to remove our hand from the fire, emotional pain warns us that we need to make an internal change.
Reclaim your heart and place it with its rightful owner: God.
The beauty you see in them is a reflection of the Creator, so you love them.

The people are only tools, a means used by God. But they are not the source of help, aid, or salvation of any kind. Only God is.
