That’s what I call ‘accuracy tempered by brevity.’ Like calling John my husband. Or Lyric my step-son. It’s easier than explaining we’ve been together for so long that ‘boyfriend’ seems too informal, and that we filed taxes together so we’re pretty much common-law anyway.
