Avoid people who are always having a bad day. In their minds, nothing ever works in their favor. They have a chronic “Woe Is Me” campaign that they continue to launch full blast. This kind of negativity depletes enthusiasm. You don’t need the woe-is-me speech every day.
When you put your efforts into your gift, you are giving God something to bless.
When you aren’t sowing into the soil of the universe, you notice that things in your life just seem to dry up and get worse. But when you sow back into the universe with your time, your passion, and your commitment to others, the world will offer abundant opportunities for you to blossom into the new you.
Warren Buffett said that he would not invest in any business where the owner hasn’t failed at least twice. I love that truly wealthy and successful people understand that failure is part of the process.
Sometimes, son, nothing is going to change until you get sick and tired of being sick and tired.
And if he loves you? Oh, he’s going to bring every cent home to you. He’s not going to come back from gambling all his money away, saying, “Here’s $100 – that’s all I got this week.” He’s going to come straight home with that check, and if there’s anything left over after he takes care of each and every one of your needs, well, then he’ll play. This is man business, baby. It’s how we do.
You should be living your life surrounded by people who are like-minded, service-oriented, and grateful, people who are trying to accomplish things, and who bring something to the table.
So many people are missing their way in life because they are afraid to sign the lease on their gift.
We become our own opposition when we accept the following: procrastinating, lying to ourselves, comparing ourselves to others, and having self-doubts – in short, anything that gets in the way of our becoming who we were created to be.
Remember this: the number one cause of failure in this country is the fear of failure. Fear paralyzes you from taking action.
Procrastinators will weigh you down. Action is the prescription for moving forward. Action will eliminate boredom. Procrastinators are waiting, and they often create more excuses to continue waiting: It isn’t the right time; I’m going to wait until it’s sunny outside; I got up late; I called them and they didn’t pick up the phone; they didn’t reply to my email. Procrastinators are going nowhere. Do not let them impede your journey to success.
The next home-going service at your church could be yours. And the most important thing on that day won’t be the amount of flowers that surround your casket or how well the choir sings your favorite hymn. The only thing that will matter is how well you use that dash between the day you were born and the day you die.
People get jealous and use whatever information they have to make you feel bad and themselves feel better.
Don’t ever be afraid to put yourself in a lesser position so that you can learn something from someone who knows more.
Some parts of your vision are meant to be shared, in confidence, only with a trusted mentor, friend, or family member. And some aspects of your vision honestly don’t need to go beyond your prayer time with God.
Some of us have been playing the same self-defeating records over and over again in our heads for so long that we don’t know how to think any differently about ourselves.
All men CAN change, but that doesn’t mean that all men WILL change. There’s only one woman whom we will change for. If a man is not willing to change, it means that you aren’t the one.
You don’t have to sit there and keep losing valuable years of life with a man who’s not right for you... You have to keep moving forward and believe that God has the right person for you... the right person to give you strength and encouragement to keep you jumping toward your dreams.
Our creator, in his infinite wisdom, created every single soul with a gift. Your gift may be totally unique or it may be similar to.
What I learned from that moment is that when you face your fears, they aren’t as big as you thought they were. What makes them big is when you don’t turn around to face them head-on. The longer you avoid your fears, the bigger they grow in your mind.
