It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.
If there is any possible consolation in the tragedy of losing someone we love very much, it’s the necessary hope that perhaps it was for the best.

Mostly it is loss which teaches us about the worth of things.

The greatest hazard of all, losing one’s self, can occur very quietly in the world, as if it were nothing at all. No other loss can occur so quietly; any other loss – an arm, a leg, five dollars, a wife, etc. – is sure to be noticed.

I’m always thinking about losing money as opposed to making money. Don’t focus on making money, focus on protecting what you have.
